The new diet has been going quite well, I’m going on my 2nd week I believe? I’ve been experimenting immensly with my recipies. I’ve starting making noodles, spaghetti, friend veggie rices and so on. Real tasty things, I even have a few recipies for desserts that I need to get cracking on. Oh, and with 3 apples and 2 cups of apple cider I made my very own jar of APPLE BUTTER! A real hippie I am, yes I know.
My bloodsugar is still remaining stable and I can hardly believe it, this is quite the goal to accomplish. And in other health news I will be attending the 6th Annual Macrobiotic Summer Conference! How coincidental is that? They are having it in the south-west of Holland and its for 2 weeks! Its a little expensive but I’m taking it out of my edjucation fun since I’ll be in classes every day from 7am till 12 midnight! But it includes room and 3 meals a day, fully Macrobiotic.

WOW!

So it is now…the 12th and I’ve been on my diet about 4-5 days so far. All I can say is “WOW”, I have never noticed such a drastic change. I’m a Type II diabetic (currently) of around 14 years, I have not have such stable bloodsugar levels in MY LIFE! My body has become so much more regulated I’ve had to REDUCE my insulin levels by HALF! Its almost an effort to keep my bloodsugar up!
Not only that, my eye sight (which was a little blurry) has improved I’d say about a full 40% and I overall feel great and full of energy all day!
So far its been a real simple schedule. In the morining I eat 7 whole-grain oatmeal with maple syrup, lunch some whole wheat sandwitches and dinner is Complete whole-grain brown rice/Millet with steamed veggies and miso/lentil soup.
Another interesting thing is before I could barely eat alot of so to speak “carbs” or a whole meal in general without my bloodsugar sky-rocketing. That was mainly due to the simple carbs, food processing and sugars. Now I eat giant portions till I’m full and then have to make sure by bloodsugar doesn’t go too low! A very exciting time for me, this has never happened before and I’m loving it.
I will keep on this as it is also much cheaper to stay on such a diet consisting of ingrediants that are mass-produced organically very cheap.

My Macrobiotic start…

So after some thoughtful researching and information gather I’ve decided to embrace a Macrobiotic life style. So this begins my Macrobiotic journey and I’m curious to see some of the beneficial outcomes.
What is Macrobiotics? Here is a small paragraph: (From: The Macrobiotic Guide)
Macrobiotics is known mainly as a balanced diet. But it is actually a way of life which involves every area of human activity using practical tools for personal growth and transformation of body, mind and spirit.
For people who want to adopt a restrictive macrobiotic diet, it is recommended to read more about it and even consult a macrobiotic counselor (especially in case of illness). It is generally recommended that the diet be adopted gradually, reducing animal products, refined flour, sugar, dairy products and adding more whole grain and vegetable quality foodsMacrobiotics is the art and science of health and longevity through the study and understanding of the relation and interactions between ourselves, the foods we eat, the lifestyles we choose to lead, and the environments in which we live.
Macro (= great) biotics (= life) or (view of life) means exactly this.
Whatever you do with your life that creates “great life” is macrobiotic.
It is a lifestyle of efficiency and simplicity dating back thousands of years. The daily food roughly breaks down to:
- 60% whole grains
- 30-25% Vegetables
- 5-10% Beans & Sea Vegetables
- 5% Soups
Also striving to keep all foods organic, using locally grown produce and eating in a seasonally changing method. It is somewhat similar to Vegan in that you don’t eat meat (besides some occasional fish as they come from a different ecosystem and are less contaminated by human interaction), no dairy and no sugars (besides the natural sweeteners: Syrus, Honey, Rice/Barley Malt).
From friends and family and people who have done this they have had some profound health benefits and overall greater well-being. So, here we go.
