Back from Reboot 10, Completely Rebooted
Finally back from Copenhagen and settling in again to get back to work.
Overall it was another amazing go around this time as expected. Just as with my first Reboot 2 years ago, it was all about the people, vibe, forward thinking and collaboration. The conference itself is extreamly casual which lends greatly to the overall vibe. You’re not “stuck” in a particular place, there are always people all over and comfy beanbags and sofa scattered about. Unlimited croissants, coffee/tea and fresh fruit were enjoyed by all.
This year I didn’t really even pay attention to the session list/time, mainly in part to that they didn’t have it complete until a few days before the conference. It turned out nicely as it created a nice bit of serendipity as I and many others would just go to the session wall to see what was going on at any time. Go with the flow right?
The theme of this Conference was “Free”. While at first I had trepedations about how they could utilize that topic in the talks, discussions and conference it really turned out great. Speakers such as Stowe Boyd, Chris Messina, Jeremy Keith, Jyri and more gave some great introspection on various topics which many were talking about long after the talks were done.
While the WiFi wasn’t “amazing”, it was pretty good as far as conferences are concerned. The pre-conf as well as the after-conf parties were some to remember. For the pre-conf we did the usual boat trip around the Copenhagen canals with pretty much unlimited champaign and beer for a few hours, quite productive. The after party was supposed to be at a club/bar, but in social networking and impromptu fashion a street mob party just formed out of no where across the street. What started with a local Danish guy on a bike with a cart on the front of it full of beer and boom box grew to a crowd of over 50. It was eventually broken up by the cops but it was an interesting things to see and really reminded me of the mass exodus from friendster to myspace.

Many amazing people met and the feedback on what we’re doing with SugarStats.com was just as positive, a few interviews came out of that as well which I’ll be sure to post. I’m sure to be going back next year.
I’ve posted all my pics on Flickr, you can find them here:
