A List of Useful Online Diabetes Resources

ReadWriteWeb, one of my favorite blogs, has a nice post on some cool Health 2.0 online diabetes management resources available to people. Unfortunately Richard the editor recently was diagnosed with diabetes which prompted the post.
“In this post, I’m somewhat selfishly going to review the diabetes sites and apps I found across the Web. But this post also serves, I hope, as an introduction to the more general topic of ‘Health 2.0’ – a.k.a. healthcare that uses the Internet.”
We’re grateful they included SugarStats in it, its always nice to be featured on one of your favorite blogs 
“SugarStats has potentially very useful aggregation, graphing and trending tools, plus you can share your stats with relatives or other diabetics. SugarStats also has a mobile version – even Twitter integration!! Overall, SugarStats is an excellent use of web 2.0 to enhance healthcare treatment.”
Very cool 
He goes on to list various resources from helpful learning material, to diabetes social networks (TuDiabetes.com) to Online Management with SugarStats.

As a major 24 fan myself as well as someone who used to be on AOL 3.0 on my 9600bps modem, something about this parody rang home.
Ah yes, the good ol’ days of paying for the Internet hour by hour. And wait, huh? Whats that? I get 5 free bonus hours for the month if I sign up with AOL today? Awesome!
I thought I was soooo cool with my 4MB of Ram and 25Mhz CPU which was an upgrade from my 8Mhz Mac Plus with 1MB Ram. ONE MEGABYTE!!!!
But I couldn’t complain because as Bill Gates said:
“640K ought to be enough for anybody!”
Its really funny to see how so much has changed, things were so much simpler then. Though I love technology to death, I really am glad to be able to say “I existed before everyone and their dog had a computer and was online 24/7”.
Back in the day when you actually had to find creative outlets and actually go outside to interact with the real world. The social disconnect back then was still at a minimum. Good times.

OS X Leopard Install Success!

Ok, just like everyone else now I too have had the joy of using Leopard.
My initial impressions:
- Wish I could have done a clean install.
- Some things were buggy, which is most likely from old software I’ve been using.
- Install was fairly quick, did an archive and install. 30min or so.
- Spent a long time adding things to the TimeMachine “Exception” list. This is mainly due to it conflicting with my old “backup scheme.” Still have to figure this out.
- Have it installed on my 24” iMac w/ 2.16Gzh Core2Duo. Still have to test on 1.33Ghz G4 Powerbook.
What I love so far:
- The unified interface.
- Space – YES YES YES! Much better than VirtueDesktop. Everything I could want in a multiple desktop app/os.
- Much better memory and CPU management.
- Despite what everyone else says, I like the doc and transparent menubar.
- Faster and snappier than Tiger.
- Quick Look is VERY handy indeed.
- A million under the hood improvements.
Overall a great upgrade, I would say a must for everyone who has a mac now.
