We just rolled out a cool little feature: Twitter.com integration! It lets users add SS entries via Twitter direct messaging like so:
or
d ss1 med rap 6 Trying 6 units of NovoRapid to cover dinner
I’m a big Twitter baboon myself and it comes in quite handy on my phone. I think the greatest part of it all is the crazy amount of 3rd party apps available for Twitter, you can pretty much update twitter from any place you like. That means any SugarStats user inherits all the benefits: IM, Web, SMS, Firefox, Widgets etc. Awesome.
Cool thing is it only took a few days to implement, the great Twitter4R gem made it ridiculously easy. Big thanks to Susan Potter
If you want Twitter integration in your Rails app this is the way to go.

After a few years I’ve finally put a new face on this blog. Though I haven’t been updating as much as I would have liked lately, that will change. Keeping things simple, I went with the nice Vertigo Blue theme and modified it a bit.
So big thanks to Brian Gardner, great work man and thanks for the theme

North sea jazz at ahoy, originally uploaded by Marston A..
I went to North Sea Jazz Fest here in Rotterdam a few weeks ago and it was pretty cool.
There were plenty of great artists and beautiful music. Not just that, the food was superb! I never thought I’d see it but I finally had some great ‘soul food’ in Holland
It is even nicer knowing someone who works at one of the food stations, I got free entrance and unlimited food. These events always have the “cash in your cash for chips to buy stuff” setup, it was something like 2 EURO per chip.
Wish I had more pictures, it was ridiculously crowded. It was my 2nd year going and is definitely worth it.

Crossing the Chasm

I found this really great article on Read/Write/Web about Crossing the Chasm. It speaks about many different things including early adopters, VC, pushing a product/service into the mainstream and exactly what it takes.
“The reason that business people spend time trying to figure out how to bridge the gap is because the gap is what stands between them and a lot of money. Simply put, since early adopters represent a very small percentage of the population, the thinking is that you can’t build a business just by selling to them. To build a real business you need to cross the chasm.”
“Crossing the chasm is all about getting a technology widely adopted. The most difficult step is to win over the so called early majority of the mass market. This can only happen with the help of early adopters, who are instrumental since they are used as both examples and evangelists.”
Good stuff, take a read: http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/rethinking_crossing_the_chasm.php

RFacebook Rails Plugin

I came across the RFacebook plugin at http://rfacebook.rubyforge.org/ and it looks pretty cool. I might have to look into this for SugarStats/Facebook integration. Check it out.
” RFacebook is a Ruby interface to the Facebook API. It hides all the nitty-gritty details behind a beautiful Ruby front-end, allowing you to focus on writing great code. And now, with the RFacebook on Rails plugin, you can have even more Facebook goodness in Rails. Besides extensions for controllers, views, and models, it even has a great debug panel that lets you see what’s going on behind the scenes.”
