Qtek 9100, HTC Wizard, MDA Vario, Cingular 8125 WM5 performance registry hacks
After lots of searching and trying to figure this out, I’ve managed to come across some great speed and 802.11 wireless hacks for my Qtek 9100 Windows Mobile 5 phone.
Initially I was bummed because when I upgraded my ROM to 1.6.7.1, the speed increase was great but it crippled 802.11G support. Now I’ve found some registry hacks that will not only enable Wireless G to work, it speeds up the device quite a bit by upping some of the filesystem and memory caches.
A little techie I know, but below are the commands I executed to get the results, you can use any windows mobile 5 registry editor:
NOTE: One or two of the key’s might not be in your registry. I just created them and it worked fine. Also the “dword” isn’t part of the value, its the registry key type. They are all usually already dword so you most likely will not have to change it. Just note it when creating a new registry key.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GWE\Menu]
“AniType”=dword:00000000
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd]
“EnableIndicator”=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS]
“CacheSize”=dword:00000400
“EnableCache”=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt]
“ReplStoreCacheSize”=dword:00000400
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\TNETWLN1\Parms]
“dot11SupportedRateMaskG”=dword:00000008
“dot11SupportedRateMask”=dword:00000001
As I said, now my 802.11G works and my devices feels quite a bit snappier. Please note you do need to do a soft reset after you run all the registry hacks. Either use the pin-hole reset button or hold down the power button till it asks you if you’d like to shut it off.
DISCLAIMER: These hacks worked fine for me with no problem, but run these registry modifications as your own risk.
