MacBook Pro silently upgraded to 2.16Ghz
It seems Apple has updated the MacBook Pro line with upgrade CPU’s even before it begins shipping the ones announced at MacWorld! The initial release came in 2 configurations, 1.6xGhz and 1.83Ghz. If you check out the Macbook Pro in the Apple store, it now shows configurations in 1.83Ghz and 2.0Ghz.
Another weird thing is in the Apple store specs, it says 2.0Ghz and “Upgradable to 2.16Ghz”. So you can choose the 1.83Ghz model, and then a 2.0Ghz model but you can upgrade that 160Mhz for $300
It seems kind of unecessary. Why not just have a 1.83Ghz and a 2.16Ghz and skip 2.0 altogether? Perhaps they like nice round numbers? Hrm.
