Better Rails Documentation

One of the main things I’ve always thought held back Rails (well not really), is a really good Doc system (interpret really good as you will). Not that it is horrible, I just think it could be alot better.
For example, I’ve always found the php.net documentation to be REALLY easy to use, searchable and helpful. Not to mention all the downloadable local versions you can have right on your computer.
I know I’m not alone and I’ve found this site: http://rails.outertrack.com/ that I think is moving in the right direction is in my opinion much better than the original docs. These are user commentable as well, which I find invaluable.

Memoirs of a Reboot

Finally back from Reboot 8 over in Denmark. It was a absolutely superb conference and I had the honor to meet a whole lot of really cool, innovative and creative people. Even though I wasn’t expecting too much from the actual talks themselves, they were really good as well. I was initially going based on the types of people that the event attracts and after now being able to meet and see those people, that was the best part of the entire trip for me.
I think I did entirely too much Danish beer drinking (is that possible?), as that might not have been the smartest thing during the late night paryting when I had to get up very early to sit through seminars. But I some how pulled it off splendidly.

There were several talks on new and emerging technologies and concepts, mobile web 2.0 and even a ruby on rails discussion. Its always good to see rows and rows of aluminum laptops with brightly lit, half eaten apples wherever you look. Hopefully next year the wireless will be a bit more beefed up as those rows and rows of laptops sure did put a BIG dent in the connectivity.
I think the main thing I came out of the conference with was a new wave of inspiration. I came out really wanting to work on the project I have passion in and really to not be afraid to just create, do stuff and get it out there for others to experience. I was able to talk a bit about a Ruby on Rails application I’ve been working on the past few months and got some really great responses about it, so within the coming months I’ll be talking a bit more about that and the process in creating my new “lifestyle assistance” application SugarStats.

Big ups to all the people I met, it was great to see you all and hope to see you again next year. Not that there isn’t enough up already but I’m going to be getting some photos of my trip up on flick soon as well.
UPDATE:
Here are some photos I was able to snap on my Qtek 9100. Check them out in my Flickr Set
